Description
Agrilaki Fyteion Site, property of the heirs of Io. Bakothumiou, Xiromeros. Maria Gatsi (ΛΣΤ’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on discoveries made during the construction of the Agrini bypass.
A plot of land was investigated measuring 18 acres (Fig. 1). Finds that came to light included a few architectural remains, defining a few rectangular spaces (Fig. 2). Most finds came from the late Roman and early Byzantine periods. Pottery included coarse sherds of red-brown clay, parts of jars, tiles, and a few other small vessels. A ring-shaped vessel support of the 4th/5th century AD was found (Fig. 3), a tile with an embossed seal, and two bronze brooches of the Byzantine period, 7th century AD (Fig. 4).
