Description
Kokkinorachi, Corinth - Tripoli - Kalamata Highway, Lektro - Sparta section. Evangelia Pantou, Evangelia P. Eleutheriou and Maria Florou (5η EBA) report on discoveries made during the construction of the new motorway.
Excavation revealed a building complex oriented EW with dimensions 49 x 16m (surviving height of walls 0.10–0.43m) , comprising 40 walls. In the NE, a well was found, 3m long, 2m wide and 2.39m deep. Significant damage had been sustained to the complex, and so it was difficult to ascertain the original use of the structure. Small finds date the building between the tenth and thirteenth centuries AD. Finds included glazed pottery and coins.
