Description
Ancient Thouria, Ellenika. X. Arapogianni (ASA) reports on the excavation of two trenches at this location.
In one (in the field belonging to A. Tsagli) a wall made of reused stone and a fragment of a fluted column were found. Ceramics under the wall date to the 3rd to 2nd centuries BC.
In the other (in a field belonging to the heirs of Konstantinos Krika) there came to light the southeast corner of a large peribolos, in the isodomic style with rectangular stone blocks, 20.80 m. long (E-W) and 21.40 m (N-S). Within the area enclosed by the walls were found other walls and two large thresholds (Fig. 1) as well as plaster with colour, demonstrating the existence of buildings, whose use should date to the Hellenistic period on the basis of ceramic finds.
