Description
Kifissia, Spartis 18 (O.T. 214, property of N. Hatzianastasiou). Galini Daskalaki (B’ ΕΠΚΑ) reports on the discovery of 17 burials (Fig. 1). These include 9 pyres, 6 cremations in amphorae, 1 tile grave, 1 shaft grave and 1 cist grave. The tile grave contained a black-glazed olpe and a skyphos dating to the first half of the 5th c. B.C. The skyphos has the following names engraved under one handle: Αριστείδο/ Διοδότο/ Δ̣α̣ισίμο/ Αρρίφρονος/ Περικλέος/ Ε[υ]κρίτο. It also had the word Δραπέτης engraved on its base (Figs. 2, 3). One of the pyres contained a black-figure lekythos. The amphorae apart from ashes also contained miniature skyphoi and oinochoai. Pebbles had been placed as stoppers on the mouths of the amphorae. At a later phase this area was used for habitation as attested by an extensive destruction layer containing rubble, tiles and undecorated pottery sherds.
