Description
Ancient Corinth, Loutsa (Lazarou-Angelou property). The ΛΖ’ ΕΠΚΑ reports the discovery, in excavations spanning 2006-2008, of a large, well-built double-storey Roman kiln (Fig. 1), in which the combustion and firing chambers were partially preserved, and, to the N, 38 Archaic (6th c. BC) - Hellenistic (early 2nd c. BC) tombs (7 in pits, 14 tile-covered and 17 in sarcophagi) (Fig. 2). The tombs did not follow a consistent orientation and not all contained grave goods. Typical offerings consisted of lekythoi, aryballoi, oinochoae, skyphoi, miniature vases, gold leaf, and bronze earrings.
