Description
Salamis, Sklavos. Y. Lolos (Ioannina) reviews the results of surface survey on the Middle Bronze Age acropolis which overlooks Maroudi bay on the southern coast of Salamis. The settlement at Sklavos, and the acropolis at Kanakia on the southwestern coast are the main coastal sites in MH Salamis. Another possible MH settlement is located in Satirli on the Kastelli hill. On the upper western slopes of Sklavos are architectural remains and abundant MH pottery. Six or seven successive enclosures or retaining walls lie along the northwestern and western slope. The lowest one is particularly strong and may have acted as a fortification. Surface pottery collected during different seasons includes all well-known wares of the MH II-MH III periods.
