Ayios Vasileios - 2021
Vasilis Petrakos (ASA) reports on continued excavation in 2021 in the North area of the so-called West Portico and 19 new fragments of archive in linear B were found.
Most fragments were recovered from the Mycenaean destruction layer.
The material from the collapse of the first floor of the portico was removed, allowing the ground floor to be uncovered, revealing a colonnade that extended North as well as a part of the courtyard from the complex. Between two column bases, was found a stone of lapis lacedemonius (0,68 x 0,69 m) which supported probably a wooden column. As in the rest of the West portico, clay mortar was found at the base of the columns and at the stone, drawing the limit between the portico and the courtyard.
Excavation continued in room 10 of the building A, at the top of the hill of Agios Vasileios.
